Conservation

We are passionate about the historic environment, believing that design and conservation are inseparable. Our work ranges from the sensitive repair and re-use of listed buildings to the complete refurbishment of major British institutions.

Our founder, the late Sir Bernard Feilden, was one of the UK's foremost conservation architects and his working practices have led to Feilden+Mawson being considered a leader in this field and as such is an accredited conservation architect.

The renovation of existing buildings accounts for some 90% of construction work each year and therefore the conservation of buildings is an integral part of creating sustainable architecture. The practice takes a lead in using new technologies and materials.
