F+M commissioned to regenerate Chillesford Lodge
Feilden+Mawson were commissioned earlier this month as architects for the £6.75m regeneration of Chillesford Lodge, a model farm, into residential units for the retired.
The buildings sit within a large farming estate outside Orford Ness and have stunning views of the Butley Creek flood plain on the Suffolk coast. Recently listed, the collection of red brick single and multi-storeyed barns, stores and stables will be transformed into some 20 new privately owned homes surrounded by formal and natural landscape and serviced by CHP.
The project will have two distinct zones providing private and semi private accommodation. The latter will include an indoor swimming pool and function complex which can be used by both residents and those coming from beyond the estate's boundaries.
This challenging project is being managed from the Norwich office and was formally commenced this week and other consultants have now been appointed.
