Ham House

Feilden+Mawson are carrying out a feasibility study for a new visitor centre at Ham House in Richmond, London. Owned and run by the National Trust, it is one of the most outstanding houses from the Jacobean-Stuart period, built for a Knight Marshal to James I in 1610. The National Trust would like to create a centre that offers contemporary facilities to visitors and staff and is fitting for this Grade I Listed property.

The practice has recently completed the initial phase of the work which included evaluating the current facilities as well as producing an options appraisal for the new centre. Much of the original site is not in the ownership of the Trust which made the task of finding a suitable location and form for the centre a challenge. The options are currently being tested so that a preferred proposal can be developed further in the next phase.
