Holland House Arcade restored

F+M have completed the second phase of repairs to the grade 1 listed ruin of Holland House. This final phase of the works for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea completes a programme of repairs , which together with the maintenance regime that has now been established, is intended to put the building into good repair for the next 50 years.

In phase 1 the stone arcades were repaired. Phase 2 works included repairs to the central pavilion, the wall enclosing the forecourt, and the remnant of the historic north wall. Works to the central pavilion included painstaking removal of layers of paint to reveal the original Jacobean brickwork, together with rerunning moulding profiles where the Victorian roman cement had failed.

The works are now complete to provide a fitting backdrop to the stage for this summer's opera season.
