The Mo Museum reaches completion
Feilden+Mawson were tasked with obtaining HLF funding to match funds raised by the Client for this very high profile, Sheringham sited museum project. Regenerating Anglia Water’s main pumping station in this North Norfolk seaside town, the design uses the existing buildings and infils the courtyard directly over the main storage tanks.
With a budget of approximately £1m, the large lifeboats had to be lowered into place prior to the building being built around them and the dream and aspiration of the Client members was realised with the building’s completion January 2010.
The Mo will be opened later this month by the Duke of Kent and has attracted much interest in the region and will form an important tourist opportunity for Sheringham.
Topped by a 360 degree glass viewing tower, the building also provides facilities for the off-shore energy sector and is currently having the interactive display installed prior to formal opening to the public end of March 2010.
