Feilden+Mawson's Pavel Nasadil is the Winner of Czech Press Photo 2018 Contemporary Issues Category with a series of images from Jouvenile Prisons in Sierra Leone.

Czech Press Photo is a prestigious photography contest with a follow-up exhibition that has over 20 years of tradition. The competition is juried by an international jury of expert journalists and photographers. This year, 24th CPP, over 430 photographers submitted more than 6500 images in 8 categories.

Pavel’s reportage was shot in cooperation with Prison Watch Sierra Leone, a local NGO, in Freetown and Bo in Sierra Leone in January 2018.

"The remand home for jouveniles is an inconspicuous single storey building behind a wall with barbed wire on the edge of Kroo Bay slum in central Freetown. Along its entire length is a barred loggia with young offenders hanging around bored and nothing to engage in. Their fates are all different but they have one thing in common – a very long wait for their court hearing. After the ebola epidemic the judiciary system in Sierra Leone is malfunctioning and chaotic.”
