New Education Centre Opens

Wednesday 15 July marked the official opening of the New Education Centre by Professor Brian Cox, who said "Much like science, democracy is one of the necessary foundations of society. This new Centre draws on the fascinating history of UK democracy, bringing it to life with innovative technology and explaining its relevance to young people today."

In addition to doubling the number visitors each year, the centre combines state of the art technology with an environmentally sustainable building to offer young people and schools a world class facility in which to learn about Parliament, democracy and political history. Since opening recently, the centre has been fully booked, with bookings for 2016 being taken in January.

Alan Robson, Lead Architect said: "Feilden+Mawson are delighted to have designed such a seminal project for Parliament and a facility that will do so much to enhance the experience of young people visiting the Palace of Westminster in the future. It is a subtle addition to Victoria Tower Gardens and has been designed to respond directly to the adjacent Palace, enhancing the important links between old and new."

Academy House Opens

Having been involved on the project for a number of years, we are pleased to announce the completion of Academy House, located on Hills Road, Cambridge. Since the building has been completed we have received positive comments regarding the quality of the design and visual impact it has on this area of Cambridge, especially when viewed from the guided bus route or the train.

The project included four foundation classrooms and eight infant classrooms, in addition to state of the art ICT facilities, a library, sports hall and cafeteria.

UEA "Brutal Utopias" Tours

Feilden+Mawson recently led a series of tours around at the University of East Anglia as part of the National Trust's "Brutal Utopias" project. A number of tours over the weekend were guided by retired F+M Partner, David Luckhurst, with the assistance of F+M Architectural Historian, Charlotte Evans. The tours were a huge success, and with tickets sold out in advance and beautiful sunshine, it was the perfect weekend for us to show off some of our work on this iconic campus.
