New Associates

Feilden+Mawson are delighted to announce the appointment of four new Associates, Architects Gabriela Marrero-Vasquez and Matt Wood along with Technologists Matt Jennings and Neil Temple.

Forensic Science Northern Ireland

After many years in planning, the new Laboratory Services Building for Forensic Science Northern Ireland (FSNI) is complete and was handed over to the client at end of November. The building has been well received by users and visitors alike, and has already had positive feedback.

Hailed as the best facility of its type in the UK, and perhaps Europe, the laboratory facilities ensure that FSNI can continue to meet the needs and requirements of the wider Criminal Justice System in Northern Ireland. In addition, and in spite of the high containment requirements, the building is on target to achieve BREEAM excellent, a very significant marker for the NI Department of Justice and the wider Northern Ireland Executive in general.

Academic Centre Buckingham University

About to be submitted to planning: Buckingham University has commissioned Feilden+Mawson to design their new £6m Academic Centre that will be located on a prominent site at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Its 2000sqm will accommodate seminar rooms, simulated wards and operating theatre and will be supported by seminar rooms, a 150 seat lecture theatre and associated other spaces.

When completed in 2017, the Centre will provide the University and Hospital with flexible facilities to suit both of their teaching needs. This in turn will strengthen the students' learning experience and the ties between Buckingham University and Milton Keynes University Hospital.

Triple applications for care homes

We are working closely with a care home provider, Kingsley Healthcare Group, and excited to be appointed on six projects varying in scale and complexity across East Anglia, helping them to provide high quality care across their business. We have recently submitted three planning applications and are waiting for planning approval.

Cambridge Military Hospital submitted for planning

The Grade II listed Cambridge Military Hospital closed in February 1996 after functioning as a hospital for 115 years. Its continued operation was no longer viable due to high running costs and the extensive presence of asbestos throughout the building.

Feilden+Mawson has been appointed by Grainger (Aldershot) Plc to redevelop Cambridge Military Hospital with the purpose of providing 74 dwellings and flexible commercial/community space, with associated parking, access, landscaping and public open space. The redevelopment is planned to ensure a long-term future that is sustainable and is part of a wider planned redevelopment of Aldershot town. The proposals have recently been submitted for planning and listed building consent.

Hillington Square Phase 2 - Kings Lynn Complete

Feilden+Mawson are happy to announce the completion of Phase 2 of Hillington Square in King's Lynn. The project involved full internal and external refurbishment of 1960's council flats into 48 flats consisting of bedsits, 1 and 2 bed units. This refurbishment also included new build cores, extensions and balconies. Phase 3 is due to start on site in April 2016.

Christmas Message

2015 marks another successful year for Feilden+Mawson, with the completion of many incredible projects such as the New Education Centre which has doubled the number of school children who can visit Parliament each year; MOD Caversfield, with an appearance on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces and setting new standards with such builds as the Locard Building for Forensic Science Northern Ireland (FSNI). In addition to the completion of projects, our impressive Lake Cabin in Prague has won the Grand Prix Architecture Award for "Best Czech Building".

Feilden+Mawson has enjoyed growth across all offices, with the Cambridge Studio growing by approximately 60%. We look forward to seeing what the New Year brings and there will be an exciting new addition to Feilden+Mawson in 2016.

Feilden+Mawson will be taking festive break from 2pm on Thursday 24 December 2015 and re-open at 9am on Monday 4 January 2016. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
