Little Plumstead School
The new school is a single storey curved structure with class bases and associated WC pods located to the west side. The class bases will enjoy an open aspect onto open parkland beyond. The main hall, library and office areas are collated together at the north end, predominantly on the opposite side of the corridor, allowing for the extension of school accommodation.
The building utilises the energy efficiency associated with a high thermal mass from the structure. Thermal comfort is provided and controlled by means of a ground source heat pump and an under floor heating system, all working in combination with a passive ventilation and night purging strategy. The school was successfully completed in autumn 2011.
