The British Academy

Feilden+Mawson completely refurbished this pair of Grade I Listed Buildings for the British Academy, originally designed by John Nash and subsequently altered internally by Billerey and Blow in 1904, which had fallen into an advanced state of disrepair. Part of the premises remained occupied by a sitting tenant, which made the project more complex.

The sub tenant subsequently moved out, giving the Academy the opportunity to extend their own accommodation into the remaining parts. Feilden+Mawson resolved the difficulties of completely combining the two buildings and provided new facilities including a new auditorium for 140 people, new lifts, improved disabled access and a new catering facilities for functions.
