Z Hotels and Z Hotels CLUB at Gloucester Place

Feilden+Mawson were lead architects and interior designers for the successful refurbishment of six Grade II listed Georgian townhouses for The Portman Estate in Marylebone.

Nos 23, 33, 51, 53, 55 and 87 Gloucester Place have seen the completion of all building works in October 2016 and the subsequent occupation by Z Hotels as the operator acting on behalf of the Estate. While No 87 is operating as a bespoke stand alone hotel, the remaining five townhouses form a single large hotel along this historically sensitive road. The buildings are the latest refurbishment project within the evolving regeneration of The Portman Estate and combine carefully restored period features with exceptional modern facilities.

The works include the addition of new rear extensions, the introduction of new heating and cooling plant at roof level, new ventilation systems, full replacement of existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, new lifts, new basement floor slabs, upgrades to acoustics and fire resistance of walls and floors, upgrades and repair to the existing building envelopes, new roofs, as well as general changes to existing layouts on all floors throughout the properties.

Nos 51-55 and 87 have seen the addition of new spacious breakfast rooms behind the line of the townhouses, with the new breakfast room behind Nos 51-55 inserted as a lateral link of all three houses at Ground floor level. The new bright and airy space doubles up as hotel lounge and circulation space. No 87 has received a special feature in form of a spacious and landscaped terrace, which has proved extremely popular with hotel guests right from the start.
