Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery

Feilden+Mawson have been working for the Institute of Cancer Research since 1998 on projects which include new builds as well as refurbishment projects.

Involved in this project since producing a masterplan for a green field site on the Northern side of ICR’s Sutton Campus back on 2009.

CCDD provides 7400m² of multidisciplinary laboratory and research space, collaborative working environments and supporting services reflecting the design principles agreed within the Masterplan.

The 5 storey building strategically provides 2 floors of Chemistry labs with over 70 fume cupboards, 2 floors of Biology labs and a floor for a medical trials team with a separate building for services distribution for both this and future phases.

Designed for functional adaptability each floor is split in to 60% laboratory, 15% collaboration and 25% scientific offices with the potential to convert office space into biological laboratory space if necessary as the research streams develop in the future.

The building completed in February 2020 and is now fully operational following a package of post contract works for the operational fit out and installation of specialist equipment.
