MOD Caversfield

MOD Caversfield is set in a unique conservation area, containing seventeen listed structures and a number of other notable historic buildings and is considered to be one of the best preserved RAF air bases in the country.

Phase 1 of the site had been built substantially around the open Parade Ground, originally in the late 1920s/early 1930s, thus Feilden+Mawson's task was to achieve an appropriately sensitive landscaping strategy that retained something of the MOD heritage yet established an sense of place for residential use.

Phase 1 has recently been completed and the units are being successfully sold off to occupiers. The project, now into Phase 2, demonstrates Feilden+Mawson's ability to enhance the setting of listed buildings in a sensitive area with the addition of new residential houses and terraces in a contemporary yet complimentary style.
