Feilden+Mawson is delighted to have secured Reserved Matters for a contemporary residential scheme of 62-dwellings and a Racehorse Training Establishment (RTE) for Heritage Developments on a steeply-sloping site in Kentford.

The development comprises dwellings, with associated parking, access and public open space in conjunction with the RTE which comprises a 20-box stable, barn, yard area with muck pit, exercise ring with horse walker and lunge pit, paddock and trainer’s house.

The proposal responds to key site constraints including mature vegetative margins and overlooking potential in the context of an adjacent river with associated flood plain. The equine and residential buildings comprise traditional forms taking cues from the local vernacular but embodied in a contemporary way. Elements of black brick provide a contemporary take on traditional horizontal weatherboarding whilst zinc roofing provides accents of agricultural homage. Flint, which features quite extensively in the village, is exhibited through the use strategic gabion walling.

The layout and design create a strong sense of community and place, respecting neighbouring properties and their amenity whilst also exploiting the site’s topography, providing a truly unique and outstanding development to the benefit of the village. A start on site is destined for early 2019 with completion anticipated around Spring 2021.
