Phase 3a, Swans Nest, Brandon Road, Swaffham

Feilden+Mawson were commissioned to realise the final phase (3) at Swan’s Nest, Brandon Road, Swaffam, which had previously gained outline planning consent in 2014 as part of a wider masterplan for 250 homes.

Phase 3 comprises 98 dwellings ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms with associated parking, amenity and public open space provision established through a clear hierarchy of streets delineating the parcels of land. The design follows on from the success of earlier phases, adopting traditional building forms exhibiting a contemporary palette of materials.

A wild flower meadow features as an attractive open space to the southeast of the site and at the heart of a wider-future masterplanning phase. Overlooked by dwellings which flank its edges, this area also serves to accommodate large attenuation tanks beneath on this difficult terrain to facilitate successful drainage site-wide.

Granted planning in 2018, construction is now underway, with the first dwellings due to complete around Summer 2019.
