UEA Fabric Refresh Summer 2017-18

Feilden+Mawson competitively won the commission to assist the University of East Anglia in refreshing a number of seminar rooms, lecture theatres and communal areas across the campus; building works were undertaken via traditional procurement over the summer period in readiness for the start of the 2018-19 academic year.

Works entailed condition review of all elements to rooms in the Elizabeth Fry, Sciences and Arts buildings, to facilitate the specification of remedial proposals where required and redecoration throughout. Refurbishment comprised of:

• new floor finishes where previously tired and/or not fit for purpose for intended use;

• repair / redecoration of walls and ceilings to provide a neutral colour palette aligned with the UEA’s requirements;

• repair and redecoration of doors / windows and associated ironmongery / access control / other associated componentry;

• repair and redecoration of fixed cabinetry and associated ironmongery;

• modifications to stages in the Elizabeth Fry lecture theatres to make them fit for purpose with ramped access complying with Building Regulations;

• new seating to the Elizabeth Fry lecture theatres to maximise numbers and wheelchair accessibility;

• lighting / AV refresh throughout.
