University Arms Hotel

Feilden+Mawson assisted R.G. Carter to deliver the new University Arms Hotel in Cambridge.

The building which was originally extended by Feilden+Mawson in the 1960’s was due a significant overhaul which involved demolishing up to two thirds of the existing building and replacing with a traditional design to provide the new hotel with 196 rooms.

The scheme was designed and developed utilising Revit which assisted coordinate some of the complex structural forms required to create some of the ornate facades and roofscapes. The design also utilised internal courtyards to provide natural light to the heart of the building.

The completed building adds significantly to the setting of Parker Piece and provides Central Cambridge with another good quality hotel.
