The renovation plans have been developed by conservation architects Feilden + Mawson in consultation with the Law Lords, Westminster City Council and English Heritage. The renovation will reverse many of the more-recent adaptations that have left the building feeling cluttered and gloomy while retaining much of the historic fabric of the building.
The opening up of the north and south lightwells that have been filled in over the years will bring light back into the building. This will improve orientation within the building and the appearance of original features such as the stained glass windows, wood panelling and ornate ceilings.
