70th Anniversary

‘We are inheritors of the past and can use it to enrich the future.’ — Bernard Feilden, 1966

This year, Feilden+Mawson celebrates 70 years.

Bernard Feilden and David Mawson founded the practice in 1956. Seventy years on, F+M has grown across Norwich, London, Cambridge and Prague, and our work has taken us far beyond where it began.

There is a lot of history in 70 years. Buildings we have helped to give new life to, new places we have created, long-standing clients who have returned to us over the years, and generations of people who have worked at F+M and left their mark on the practice.

This past year has also brought an important change for F+M, with our transition to an Employee Ownership Trust. It feels a fitting point in our history to put the future of the practice into the hands of the people who are part of it today.

Much has changed since 1956, but Bernard’s words still feel relevant. Our past is an important part of who we are, and reaching 70 gives us a chance to celebrate it.

It also gives us a chance to recognise the many people who have made F+M what it is today. Everyone who has worked at the practice and brought their own knowledge, ideas and character to it; the clients who have trusted us with their buildings and ambitions; and the many people we have worked alongside to make those projects happen.

Seven decades is a lot of work, a lot of people and a lot of stories. We’re incredibly proud to have reached this point, and very grateful to everyone who has been part of it.
